Cracking start to Minor League season

March 19, 2012

What a fantastic start to the season. Gwydir Oval looked very inviting as 4 Bingara teams took to the field in the first game of the 2012 season against Uralla.

The 8’s were first to kick off and played well and considering the small number of players they have, they came up with a great 40 – 12 win.

Next were the 10’s who again played well and also won their first game 20 – 12.  Chloe Butler was the only female player on the field today and she went well against a very strong Uralla side who were too strong for the 12’s and they went down 38 – 4. There is lots of room for improvement from this group of very keen players who have only been training together for a week so we will watch out for them during the rest of the season.

The much anticipated 16’s took to the field and they did not dissapoint. With hard hits and determination they played well and the 26 – 6 scoreline did not reflect their effort.

Great job to all the boys today.  You entertained the crowd and we will look forward to seeing what you can do next week against Moree.  Next home game will be on 31 March against Inverell North with the first game at 10am.

We would like the thank our sponsors for the year: Bingara Advocate, Meat on Maitland, Bingara RSL, McGregor Gourlay Ag Services, Dow Agro Science, Imperial Hotel, Bingara Bakehouse and Bingara IGA and Gwydir Shire Council.
We would also like to thank Peter O’Brien for his time and effort.
