Crunch day at Glen Innes

May 14, 2013

Senior rugby league in the Gwydir Shire faces its moment of truth at Glen Innes next Saturday when the Bingara/Warialda combination takes last year’s Premiers and the current competition leaders, Glen Innes.

The Magpies are currently two points ahead of 2nd placed Moree Boomerangs, with Gwydir a further two points away in 3rd spot. After a reasonable start, with close losses to Inverell and the Rangs, Gwydir’s form has been awesome lately with three wins on the trot. On the other hand, the Magpies have been at their very best to remain undefeated. It is no coincidence that the two Clubs are high performers as each has recruited well to compliment local talent and they also have quality coaches, Peter Stevens (Gwydir) and Dale Keegan (Glen).

Both have a record of winning premierships and have the ability to physically and mentally prepare players for the big games. Saturday’s game will be a ripper in front of a huge crowd.

The Ladies League tag commences at 12 noon, followed by the reserves and the first grade between 2.30 – 3 pm.
