Curl the mo! Rats and Lions celebrate Movember

November 28, 2013

With just a few days of Movember to go until their handsome good looks are restored, Bingara Rats and Lions Movember team are raising awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer in the community through ‘having a go and growing a mo’.

They have joined forces with Lyn Rose and the crew at the Sportsmans Hotel and are having a huge fund raising party on Sunday, December 1 to celebrate the end of Movember and find out who can grow a Mo.

The team of Tex Wright (captain), Peter Collins, Ian Armstrong, Mark Everett, Joe Gibson, Peter Jones, Ben Roberts and Chris Thomas have spent the month tending and cultivating their moustaches which may or may not last the distance at the December 1 function.

“With lots of activities planned for the afternoon we are hoping to have a good crowd come along and help us celebrate this worthy cause,” mo grower and fundraising organiser, Tex Wright said.

“The afternoon kicks off at 3pm out the back of the pub and we are hoping to raise an impressive amount to put towards finding a cure for prostate cancer and other men’s health issues as decided on by the Movember charity.”

Live entertainment kicks off at 4pm with local artists strutting their stuff.

Jamie Wilson, Tahlia (Chook) Stevens and Steve McGarrity just to name a few will be having a go and there will be the opportunity for others to step up and show us what they are made of.

The Lions will be starting the barbecue at around 5.30 with all purchases going into the fund raiser. The Rats rugby boys and girls will be floating around to help make the night a success running loads of novelty events and face painting etc. for the kids and there will also be lots of raffles with great prizes going off during the evening.

We have some exceptionally rare items up for auction at 6pm. These have been donated to the cause and the action will be run by local auctioneer Robert Northcott from H Roy Miller.

“So bring the cheque book along for this very worthy event,” Tex urged.

Mo judging and finalists will be rewarded at around 7pm with many awards to be given out on the night for adults and kids alike. It what should be a fun afternoon of frivolity everyone is invited to come along and celebrate life with laughter and good company.
