‘Cycle the Bingara region’ booklet well received

April 19, 2013

Just ten minutes after the recently produced ‘Cycle the Bingara Region’ booklet hit the desk at the Bingara Information Centre, a visitor to the centre saw the booklet and remarked to Tourist Information Officer, Jenny Mead, “next time I will bring my bike”.

The booklet has been produced in response to the increasing number of cyclists visiting the Bingara region who enquire about ‘good placed to ride.  It also aims to encourage residents to explore their local area by bicycle.

Local cycling enthusiasts, Don and Jenny Capel, initiated the project, and have mapped the rides shown in the booklet, with a cross section of grade and distance, one or more of which should suit the capability of most cyclists.

Maps were produced by Council staff officer Danielle Perrett, and the booklet was put together by another employee, Louise Campbell.

The booklet includes safety tips for riders, as well as other handy information.

Tours range from a 5.8 km tour around the town, and a 5.3 Gwydir River ride to a difficult 49 km Whitlow Road ride.

Both the Gwydir River ride and the 7.2 km Bingara by ways tours are graded as easy.

Medium rides include the 23.5 km Eulourie Circuit, and the town tour.
