A by-election to fill a vacancy on the Gwydir Shire Council will be held on December 5. The vacancy was caused by the resignation of Cr. Peter Caskey.

Voting in Local Government elections is compulsory for all electors included on the residential roll. Residents have until 6pm on Monday, October 26 to make sure they are correctly enrolled, while non-resident owners, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land can apply for non-residential enrolment.
