Discounted “Our Place” Forum tickets for Shire residents

January 25, 2010

Support from co-hosts Gwydir Shire Council has enabled the attendance costs for Shire residents to be discounted at the “Our Place – country town living 2025” Forum to be held at the Roxy Theatre and the Bingara RSL Club on February 24 and 25.

A joint initiative between GSC and Bingara and District VISION 20/20, the Forum will focus on the changes that could impact upon country towns over the next fifteen years. It will pose the questions; What do we know now?  What will we need to know? …and What can we do with that knowledge?

The Forum features an exciting list of presenters. These include internationally acclaimed futurist Dr. Peter Ellyard, controversial agricultural scientist Dr Maarten Stapper, and award winning landscape architect John Mongard.

The Forum has three sessions. Wednesday February 24 will feature presentations in the Roxy Theatre by the above presenters, followed by a series of guest presenters highlighting projects that are already leading the way in country town regeneration.

The second session, on Wednesday evening, will be a dinner at the Roxy with an outstanding meal, and presentation by our guest speaker, Ms Sandy McNaughton, the Manager of the Roxy Theatre.

The Roxy story is one of community regeneration to re-establish an iconic 1936 theatre into a multi-purpose cultural and business centre. The next stage for the Roxy will be even more exciting and challenging.

The final session will be held at the Bingara RSL Club commencing with breakfast on Thursday morning, February 25, and featuring an interactive Workshop. All attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and consult, and will be part of a process to produce tangible outcomes for each participant, and for their communities.

Tickets may be purchased for any or all of the three sessions, and are available through the Bingara Tourist Information centre by phoning 02 6724 0066 or email. bingaratourism@gwydir.nsw.gov.au.

Gwydir Shire residents can attend sessions One and Three for $25 (incl GST) and the Dinner session for $35. For non- GSC residents the cost will be $50 per session. All food and drinks including lunches, morning and afternoon teas and dinner are included in the costs.
