Don’t forget to vote in the New England by-election on Saturday
02/12/2017

This Saturday is by-election day for voters in the federal electoral Division of New England.

Australian Electoral Officer for New South Wales, Warwick Austin said it is compulsory for every voter enrolled in the Division of New England to vote in the by-election.

“New England voters will be able to vote on Saturday between 8am and 6pm at any one of the 95 polling places that will be open across the Division of New England,” Mr Austin said.  The location of polling places can be found at www.aec.gov.au/new-england or by calling 13 23 26.

In Bingara, voting will take place at the Roxy Theatre, in Barraba at the Bicentennial Community Centre, and at the Hall at Upper Horton.  All of those venues have assisted wheelchair access.

Mr Austin urged all New England voters to take care when filling out their ballot paper to ensure their vote can be counted.  “New England voters need to make sure every box is numbered from 1 to 17 in the order of your choice,” Mr Austin said.

For New England voters who can’t make it to a polling place on Saturday, early voting is still available up until 6pm this Friday at early voting centres.

The closest early voting location to Bingara is at Inverell town Hall, 144 Otho Street. A list of other early voting locations is available at www.aec.gov.au/new-england
