The Drover’s Daughter tour
Join Patsy Kemp, author of The Drover’s Daughter, on her whirlwind tour of the Gwydir Shire. Meet the Author, ask her questions and discover more about her memoir.
“This is the first book ever knowingly written about a droving family working their way from town to town across two Australian states: New South Wales and southeast Queensland,” said author Patsy Kemp. Patsy’s memoir shares the highs and lows of growing up in the stock routes during the 1950s and 1960s.
“Drovers hold an iconic place in our Australian identity, due to the courage and perseverance needed to transport cattle and sheep hundreds of miles through rural and outback areas. But what of the women and children who travelled with them? It’s definitely not a children’s book, the story is told warts and all,” Patsy laughed.
