Excellent Nominations for Bingara Races

Bingara is all prepared for their Annual race meeting to be held this Saturday February 2.

Austbrokers RWA is the Bingara Cup sponsor again this year and the Banjo Club have chosen to co-sponsor the class 2 handicap over 1600m with Campbell’s Fuel Service.

The Banjo Club was formed in October 1986. There are fifteen members, all of whom are members of the Australian Turf Club, each of whom is involved in the Racing Industry on a regular and integral basis. Each year, the Club visits a selected country race meeting to present the “Banjo Plate” and we are very fortunate that they have chosen Bingara this year.

Other race sponsors include H Roy Miller Stock & Station Agents, Bingara Pharmacy, McGregor Gourlay Agricultural Services and Booroomooka Angus Stud.

Valuable sponsors that are integral for the races also include The Imperial Hotel Motel, The Regent Cafe, Meat on Maitland, Villa Rouge, Arlington Gasweld, Wyatt Artificial Breeders, Bilsborough Bus Service, IGA Bingara, Commander Centre, JAC’s Car Wash, Bingara Newsagency, Bingara Post Office, Shenanigans on Gwydir, Gwydir Shire Council, The Sportsmans Hotel, Nandewar Animal Health Services, Hawaiian Shave Ice, La Vogue Hair Salon and TRA Electrical.

This year there are nine categories for Fashions on the Field; there’s something for the ladies, teens, gents and kids.

Gates open at 11am, with the first local race commencing at around 1.30pm. Gate entry is $10, aged pensioners pay $6 and under 18’s accompanied by an adult can enter free.

Club President Sinclair Munro said “We are looking forward to a great crowd this year , we have 78 nominations, that is an increase of 36% from last year. Total race prizemoney has increased from $21,0000 to $33,000 for this year.

We are fortunate to have the Bingara Lions Club on the gate, Westpac Rescue Helicopter running the canteen and the staff from the Imperial Hotel running the race bar. SES will also put up shade tents for the race day.”

Local interest includes the nomination of locally owned Jadestra who is trained by ex Bingara Pony Club and Bingara Rugby League player John Mclachlan. John has also nominated last start winner Modest Option and form horse Half Sober.
