Extreme bike riders for 2008 Show?

March 25, 2008

The Bingara Show Society has submitted a request for $5500 to fund an Extreme FMX Air Moto X display, which it is hoped will encourage a greater attendance at the next Show in May.

The Community Services and Planning committee considered the request at its meeting, held last Thursday in Warialda.

Councillor Pankhurst was dubious about the number of people such an exhibition would attract. "I’d be very careful of a precedent being set here. I’m not against helping people but country shows are run by people who want to show things," Cr. Tremain.

Mayor, Peter Caskey expressed his support for the proposal saying "I think the country show in each rural town is a very important event. If we have the capacity to help, I think we should." A motion was carried proposing that the request be considered at the March meeting of Council. Cr Tremain requested that his opposition be recorded to the motion.
