The fifteenth annual Gwydir Art Show opens on Thursday, October 11, at 7pm in the Bingara Civic Centre. A Preview dinner will follow the presentation of prizes.
This exhibition showcases works of art from a large number of talented artists from interstate as well as local regions.

A major attraction for artists is the Acquisitive Gwydir Art Prize sponsored by the Gwydir Shire Council. This award commenced in 1996 and the winning entries have formed the Gwydir Art Collection which can be viewed in Gwydir Shire Council buildings.
Another attraction is the non-acquisitive prize sponsored by New England Mutual.
An added features this year are the recycled sections which include an arrangement of recycled items from paddock or roadside. The Woodwork section which is for a small wooden item either turned or crafted is another new addition to the exhibition.
A section for greeting cards, handcrafted for any occasion is also included in the competition.
Proceeds from the last two Gwydir Art Shows have been donated to the Community Comfort Fund which benefits local cancer patients.
The Gwydir art Show remains open on Friday October 12 and Saturday October 13 until 4pm when paintings and craft will be collected by the artists.
