Gabbie Brennan, Dux for 2011

December 22, 2011

Officially announced at the Bingara Central School Presentation night last week was the Dux for 2010, Kristen Heal but just two days later the school celebrated the success of their 2011 Year 12 HSC students, particularly Gabbie Brennan who, after a very successful year became the Bingara Central Dux for 2011.

Gabbie had a five course study load for the year including two unit Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, English (Standard) and Retail (VET) which included a school based traineeship at the Bingara Fruit Market. For these courses she gained two band fives and three band threes in her HSC giving her a very good overall mark or ATAR.

Not only did Gabbie have a particularly challenging study load but was also burdened with the fact that three out of the five courses she studied were by distant education through the Dubbo Distant Education Program.

“It is a real credit to Gabbie that the biology, chemistry and maths were all studied through distant education,” said Principal Mark Vale. “This really demonstrates her commitment and shows through application and hard work anyone can do just as well through that form of delivery and proves that anything is possible at Bingara Central.

“Students can achieve as well here as anywhere else through hard work and commitment to their studies. “I would like to congratulate Gabbie on behalf of the school and community for becoming the Dux for 2011 and we wish her well in her future studies.

Although Gabbie isn’t 100% sure of what her plans are for next year she has already been accepted in Wagga Wagga, Charlesturt University to do a Bachelor of Forensic Bio-Technology and is waiting on confirmation of her acceptance into Griffith University in Brisbane. If she is successful in gaining a further study opportunity at Griffith she will be studying a Bachelor of Forensic Science with an ultimate goal of becoming a Crime Scene Technician.

“I would like to thank the teaching staff, family, friends and the wider community for their support and encouragement over the past year.” Gabbie looks forward to taking that next step in securing herself a successful career path.
