Gearing up for motorhome and campervan rally

October 13, 2007

Next October, the sight of motorhomes and campervans rolling into Bingara will see the population of the town more than double for a week.

Rally Manager, David Fricke and his wife, Lyn were in Bingara last week, on their way to the rally in Forbes, and explained a little of what we can expect:

The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) is an organization whose membership is made up of people who own a vehicle that is equipped with all the facilities that allow them to sleep and cook within the vehicle. The larger vehicles often have showers and toilets which permit them to be self contained for a period of time. Many of the vehicles are equipped with solar power and are able to park without connecting to an outside power source.

Motorhomes within the club range from small campervans through to large vehicles that were once interstate coaches that have been converted by their owners. Members of the group are an interesting assembly of people whose life experiences cover a wide range found in a normal community.

During the rally in October 2008 when the CMCA comes to Bingara the local community will have the opportunity to experience the Motorhome Club and it’s way of life on our open day which will be Saturday 18.

The rally runs from Monday October 13 through to Saturday 19.
Club members are looking forward to making Bingara our home for a few days in 2008.

Cr David Rose and Gwydir Shire Council staff will be attending the Motor Home Rally in Forbes next week, bringing back information on what Bingara can expect next October from the club’s visit.
