Getting motorhomers and caravaners to stop for a while in Bingara

March 29, 2017

“Motor-homers and RV travellers are a very important part of the main street economic picture in Gwydir shire” said Bingara and District Vision 2020 president and business owner John Bishton.

“V2020 is delighted to be working with Gwydir Shire Council to put on this free workshop about the RV market with a Caravan Club representative.”

The Australian Caravan Club actively promotes the interests of its members and Bingara has become significant destination travellers and particularly for free camping.

There have been bumps in the road and some community concerns about the impact of free camping, but the overall result has been good for the town’s businesses. “V2020 is working on extending the community vision to 2030 and is working with other townships in the shire towards a ‘Gwydir Wide’ vision,” said John Bishton.

“Tourism is a vital part of our present and future and the more we can understand the experience that visitors want, the more we can cater for their needs.”

Anyone who is interested in how caravan and motor home tourists want to experience the Gwydir shire, what other opportunities there are such as rallies for bigger groups, and what signage and other facilities RV tourists are seeking is encouraged to attend.

The workshop will be held in the Roxy Theatre conference room at 6pm on Thursday April 6.
