Gwydir Shire Council is raising awareness among businesses of the current assistance available from Federal, State, and Local government to help through the COVID-19 pandemic. Gwydir Shire Marketing and Promotions Team Leader Georgia Standerwick encouraged businesses to check out the Service NSW Website as a start, to see what what’s available.
“The resources include a business concierge to help businesses navigate COVID regulations, financial stimulus packages and small business support grants,” said Ms Standerwick. Small businesses or not-for-profits experiencing significant decline in revenue may be eligible for grants of up to $10,000. Employers can also apply for the Jobkeeper subsidy to keep employees in work.
The State Government has also announced a stimulus package that includes payroll tax changes, as well as licence, registration, and permit fee waivers for business like bars and clubs.
Gwydir Shire Council is also providing both the Why Leave Town Gift Card program, and a free three-part online marketing and communications course to help businesses improve their social media and web presence. Both programs are free for businesses.
The Why Leave Town Gift Card is a gift card that encourages people to shop locally, with the cards only able to be used on registered EFTPOS machines around the Shire. The card will also be used to reimburse season ticket holders and disburse drought relief. Businesses must register online at the link below to participate.
The online marketing course will help businesses create engaging online content and experience and improve their presence on search engines. There will be live online lessons given each week, but these will also be recorded to allow business to access them at time convenient to them.
