Iemma Government supports Bingara & District Vision 20/20

October 30, 2007

Tony Kelly, today announced the Iemma Government is providing $10,000 over two years to help the Bingara & District Vision 20/20 Committee develop the town’s web presence.

Mr Kelly said the website development was part of the Bingara & District Vision 20/20 strategic plan – a process which began in 2005 to support the economic development of the area under the theme `Regeneration: the best of the past and blending it with the best of the new’.

“The Iemma Government is working hard to drive economic growth in regional areas,” Mr Kelly said.

“The NSW Government is proud to assist small businesses, event organisers and tourism operators promote all the district has to offer."

“Many people rely on the internet to research information about products, services and travel destinations, so it’s important for small towns to have an effective web presence."

“By working together, businesses in the Bingara area can offset the costs of managing individual websites and develop a strong presence for the district.”

Mr Kelly said the funding, provided under the NSW Government’s Towns and Villages Program, would assist the Bingara & District Vision 20/20 Committee employ a part-time website administrator.

“The funding will help kick-start development of the Bingara site over the next two years,” Mr Kelly said.

“The site’s operational costs will then become locally funded by 2009.”

Mr Kelly said the Iemma Government was delighted to link with Gwydir Shire Council, local businesses and community groups in supporting this important project.
