October 26, 2011

Last weekend saw the first Martin Turner Memorial Shield competition and campout. The shield was won by Steve Apthorpe with a yellowbelly, 48cm. Runners up were Stuart Lanagan with a 45cm fish and Leanne Riley who caught a 43 cm fish.

A total of 21 fish were caught. Five yellowbelly and 16 Cod all around the 50 to 55 cm mark, which were all released.

Erwin, Penny and Brett Turner were at the presentation.

Thank you to Herb and Gail Phillpott for donating a lamb for the barbecue. $380 was raised for the weekend which will be given to the Cancer Council.

Also thank you to Reg Dennis and Peter Fletcher for the use of their time and bikes for the Harley rides.

The success of the day has guaranteed that it will be an annual event , which will hopefully be bigger and better next time around.

Good luck and good fishin.
