Is your old man a dustman?

August 6, 2013

Eliza Doolittle’s father Albert Doolittle is a dustman and a lovable old rogue as well. He’s a cheeky chappy, one of the “undeserving poor”,…but he is willing to sell his daughter for five pounds!

Of course both Eliza and Albert are fictional, two of the colourful characters in George Bernard Shaw’s classic comedy PYGMALION.

The North West Theatre Company will stage PYGMALION at the Roxy Theatre in Bingara during November.

An excellent cast has been put together by Director, Rick Hutton. All parts have been filled….except for Albert Doolittle. “Finding a cockney dustman with acting talent is not easy!” Rick explained.

“So if your old man is a closet thespian, can do an excellent Michael Caine impersonation, and the family thinks that he should be on the stage, then tell him to “hop up on the cart”, and make himself known to the NWTC,” Rick said.

To “dob in a dustman”, you have to do little. Just contact the Director, Rick Hutton on 0428 255380 and let the NWTC dust him off and sharpen his act. You’ll be surprised at how he turns out, just like Eliza does in the play.
