Jess Heal heads to the National Worldskill Championships

May 20, 2008

Jessica Heal recently competed in the State Worldskill Championships at Crows Nest in Sydney and secured herself a place in the Nationals.

Worldskills is a national competition run every second year through the Department of Education and Training in which students who are doing TVet Courses (Tafe courses at school) are selected from their school to compete first at regional level, and if successful State and National level.

Jessica competed in Tamworth at Worldskills in October last year at regional level and won gold.  She then competed at State level on May 9, 2008 and won Bronze.  Ordinarily only the first and second place getters are selected to go on to the Nationals, but as there was only 2.25 marks between first and third place, Jessica was also invited to compete in the Nationals in Sydney in July, 2008.

Jess thought it very interesting to note that all three place getter were from regional areas. 1st was from Ulladulla, 2nd from Merriwa and 3rd from Bingara. The teachers outside the metropolitan area ar obviously doing something right!
Well done Jess, as always you have done us proud!
