Keen interest in tennis tournament

June 1, 2009

The forecast for the June Long Weekend is for fine weather.  This is encouraging news for organisers of the Bingara 2009 Tennis Open, to be held on the long weekend, June 6, 7 and 8.

Entries close on Friday, May 29, with tournament secretary, Gay Mack. “Entries are starting to arrive,” Mrs. Mack said. “People are very keen to come, some got in touch with me before I got the entry forms out,” she said.

Mrs. Mack said most of the players are from out of town, and local people are urged to enter. “The rain should be good on the clay courts,” she said.

Entries can be emailed to berrybank@bigpond.com or Gay can be contacted by phone on 6724 1178.

Events include men’s and ladies’ singles and doubles in Championship, Special, B Grade, and doubles in Veterans and C Grade events.

A disco on Saturday night, the ever popular and always lively Concert and a smorgasbord dinner on the Sunday night will ensure the Sporting Club is a busy place on the long weekend.
