KICK OFF FESTIVE SEASON

December 7, 2020

Not to be beaten by 2020, Bingara’s annual town Christmas celebration was held at Gwydir Oval on Saturday night with a generous crowd attending to soak up the atmosphere at the market event.

It may have been more subdued than usual due to COVID restrictions but those in attendance enjoyed entertainment from Rick Cuthel who played and sang into the night.

Market stalls and food providers traded well on the balmy evening. With the oval in fantastic condition children competed in a variety of activities and races including sack races and relays with sweet treats on offer for participation.

Santa soon arrived to bring some cheer, however in an effort to avoid any risk of COVID-19 and subsequent isolation and quarantine he was unable to mingle as he normally does. Instead he made the most of the new broadcast box, spreading his cheer from the top of the amenities building. After leading the way with a few Christmas carols he shared bags of lollies with the crowd below.

Christmas Carnival committee member, CR Egan, wished everyone well and assured everyone that it would be business as usual for the 2021 event.

Festive spirit was alive and well on Market night.

Rick Cuthel performed throughout the
evening.
