Kids ready for a summer of cricket

October 27, 2010

Junior cricket will take the form of a Twilight competition this summer, and is expected to start on November 5.

The 10 round competition will be played during term time, with no games during the school holidays. All games are played in Bingara, so there is no traveling involved.

At a meeting of the Junior Cricket Association last Saturday week, it was decided to change the format slightly from last year’s twenty over matches.  The twenty over games went by the wayside last year when it was realized that time would not be an issue, and by not limiting the games to twenty overs, all players got the chance to bat.

Teams again will be decided by the committee when nomination forms are returned to Mrs. Fiona McGowan. Forms can be returned to the school for collection.  The ages and skill levels of the players will be taken into consideration in the team selection process.

Cost is $25 per individual player, with a maximum of $50 per family. All payments must be received by the second round.

Each team will have a different coloured shirt supplied. Players will be required to play in their team shirt each week, but will keep the shirt.  Players are also required to wear black sports shorts when playing.

Net sessions are planned through the week, on a day to be advised.

Children in Kindergarten to Year 2 have the opportunity to be involved in Milo in2cricket. Forms for this are available from Nedine Young.
