La Vogue wins Small Business of the Year, second year running

Local Bingara businesses and employees were honoured at the annual Gwydir Shire Business awards held at the Warialda Golf Club on Thursday night.For the second year running La Vogue, owned by Susan Bridges, was awarded the Small Business of the Year.

The citation read, “La Vogue is a revitalized business that has sought to provide great service and the latest in ideas and styles. Special mention of the refitted premises and the extra services in addition to traditional hair care.”

Other businesses nominated for this award included Shenanigans, Cindy’s Hair Salon and the NAB Bank. The Large Business award went to the Bingara RSL Club with their citation reading, “An efficientlicensed club providing a good range of services which is always looking for new ideas and arrangements. They provide great service to locals and visitors. Special reference was given to Vanessa Patch for her organizational work especially for coordinating conferences and special occasions.”

Awarded Senior Employee of the year, Casey Pearce was recognised for her efficiency and friendly personality. Her citation read, “Casey is an efficient employee who is always focused on her customers. Her nominators referred to her friendly disposition, care of service and friendly manner. In what was a very strong category the judges selected Casey as the top performer. She is very mindful of the features required of a fresh food outlet.”

Year 11 Student, Nikki Morton from Bingara Central was recognised as the Junior Employee of the year. Her citation read, “In what was a small but very closely contested category, Nikki was give the judge’s decision. Nikki is an effervescent and friendly young woman who always shows care, and judgment when dealing with her customers, and a willingness to learn about her products and maintain a neat and tidy work area.”

Cathy and John Wade’s Gwydir River Trail Rides and Jackaroo/Jillaroo Experience were awarded the Rural Business for 2011. The citation for this award read, “Cathy and John have built on their love of horses and country life to provide a wonderful experience for visitors and locals. They have promoted well and their repeat customers are a testament to their thoroughness in planning and organization.
