Lack of minor league players means a sad day for Bingara

April 23, 2008

"It is with great regret and sadness I must inform people of Bingara that Bingara Minor League has had to withdraw from the 2008 group 19 competition due to insufficient numbers." said Paul McLachlan, President of Bingara Minor League.

With only one team close to the required number of players and the remainder only making 60% of the amount needed in each age group. After exhausting all possible means to recruit, the decision had to be made to withdraw, in fairness to the players and families who had committed to minor league.

This will give them time to seek a game of league (hopefully) or another winter sport elsewhere, with only two weeks until the start of the competition.

Bingara Minor League will still be active within the community, running fundraisers and so on throughout the year in prepara

tion for the 2009 competition (providing we don’t lose even more players to other sports).

For players who still wish to seek a game of footy, we have two contacts for clubs accepting players – Warialda, Craig Gilkison on 0428 608 159 (mainly in under 10’s,12’s and some 14’s); or Inverell, Bronwyn Marx on 6723 2022, all age groups.

Please contact if interested to find out training days and times.

Paul McLachlan will contact players as soon as possible to arrange refunds on registration and membership. "Lastly a heartfelt apology to the thirty eight champions who stepped up to carry on the tradition of proudly running the blue and gold onto Gwydir Oval and the people of Bingara who proudly watched them every home game." said Paul.

We did our best. Maybe next year we can be Bullets again.
