Ladies Golf Open Day a Fantastic Success

October 11, 2016

Bingara recently hosted their Open Day on a beautiful sunny day. Thirty two players came from Narrabri, Moree, Manilla, Barraba and Warialda.

The course was in magnificent condition thanks to the course curators – Ian Egan and Robert Northcott on fairways, Gerry Amer on tees, Tom Fullerton on greens, Mervyn Hall and David Brown on the table and doing the maths and Tim Cox as club overseer.

The day was generously sponsored by Erik and Noelene Ozols of The Imperial Hotel and McGregors Agricultural, Property and Livestock. Patron, Robyn Boyle also gave a donation to help fund the trophies.

The winners were spread across a number of clubs.

  • Gross winners were the ever consistent team of Robyn Spence and Peggy Penberthy of Narrabri. Runners up were Judy Northcott and Rosemary Rampling.
  • Nett winnners were Jenny Hawkins and Judy Hall. Runners up were Gin O’Keeffe and Jen Kilner of Warialda.
  • The Front Nine was won by Di Etheridge of Bingara and Lyn Groth of Barraba with Linda McDouall and Frances Young winning the back nine.
  • The super long drive was hit by Stacy Etheridge. Nearest the pins proved elusive with only Susie Moore of Moree managing to find one.

Jenny Hawkins FarewellJenny Hawkins was farewelled with a gift of an orange tree.

Jenny is moving to Tamworth and her laugh and contribution to golf will be missed.
