The North West Theatre Company is starting 2020 with a beautiful comedy play “Louisiana Ladies”. It is a radio play for voices inspired by Robert Harling’s wonderful stage play and movie “Steel Magnolias”.
Six ‘southern belles’, friends and work colleagues, meet every week at Truvy’s hair salon. On the first day of the play there are two special people introduced, Annelle, Truvy’s new apprentice, and Shelby the lovely daughter of M’Lynn Eatenton. It is Shelby’s wedding day and Truvy will “have to do something special with her hair!” as well as attending to the other ladies, so she and Annelle will be “busy as bees in a honey pot”.
Also attending the salon that day are friends and neighbours Clairee and Ouiser, each with their own special interests and strong opinions. The story unfolds over the following year as wonderful and tragic events impact on the Louisiana Ladies.
The show will have two performances, an evening show with dinner on Saint Valentine’s Day, Friday February 14, and a matinee with luncheon on Sunday February 16. Come and see the talented actors and crew of the NWTC and taste the cooking skills of the Bingara Lion’s Club for a great theatrical and culinary experience at the beautiful Roxy Theatre.
The cast of six talented and experienced players are being directed by Rick Hutton. The meals will consist of three courses with mains, dessert and tea/coffee plus treats and patrons are invited to bring their own drinks.
The shows will commence with the main course followed by Act One of the show. An intermission will include sweets, before the Second Act. The audience is then invited to stay on to enjoy coffee/tea and treats and to meet the cast and crew.
Tickets are all inclusive for both show and meal and are $30. Bookings can be made at the Bingara Visitor Information Centre on 6724 0066 or on-line through TryBooking.
Why not get a group of friends together and come and enjoy “Louisiana Ladies” at the Roxy?
