Major Sponsors announced for Black Tie Ball

October 9, 2016

Momentum for the Unleash the Black Dog, Black Tie Ball has hit high tide, with the committee announcing that all major tiers of sponsorship have now been sold.

Coming on board as bronze sponsors are Ben and Brooke Marshall of B & B Marshall’s Haulage. The Marshall’s have been operating in the local area for almost 10 years, and have been livestock carriers for our local agents and farmers over the past 4 years. They decided to take up the Bronze sponsorship package as a way to give back to the local community. “It’s not all about the promotion of our business, but more so the promotion of mental health in our shire”, Ben said of their investment. “Being able to support such a worthwhile cause, and seeing the funds going back into the local community is what motivated us into supporting this event”, Brooke said.

Taking up Silver Sponsorship is local Gwydir butcher, Larry of Gwydir Meats. Gwydir Meats are very generously donating the meat for the night of the ball, and 5 star cuts have been selected for the menu. Gwydir Meats are located in Warialda and purchase their beef and lamb locally, which in turn supports our local farmers. “If I can help get a message to just one person in our great shire, then the donation from Gwydir Meats makes it all the more worthwhile”, he said.

Seizing the opportunity of Gold Sponsorship and showing their support for local residents is our very own Gwydir Shire Council. “Mental health and suicide awareness forms part of the social and economic plan for Council, and being able to support an event that directly relates to these areas made it an easy decision to support the organising committee”, General Manager Max Eastcott said. “We need to band together as a community to support fundraisers such as the Unleash the Black Dog, Black Tie Ball, where funds can be raised to then enable future awareness events. The Gwydir Shire is excited to hear that monies raised will be spent locally and will support our local residents”, he said.

The Platinum sponsors were announced last week as Pokolbin Farm Stay, who has generously donated an auction package worth bidding for. “We were approached by the committee for a donation, and after finding out the cause we were excited to put together something that would help raise funds”, General Manager of Pokolbin Farm Stay, Lisa Hugo said. “The package will suit just about anyone; from the wine connoisseur, the golf fanatics or the adrenalin seeking go-karters. The list of what you can do in the Hunter is endless, and I hope a group can enjoy what we have on offer”, she said.

“A massive thanks must go to Pokolbin Farm Stay, Gwydir Shire Council, Gwydir Meats and B & B Marshall’s Haulage for their support”, organiser Angie Prichard said. “All of our available sponsorship packages have now been sold, so our focus in the weeks leading up to the ball is on making this a great night out and one to remember”, she said.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds made from this fundraiser will be donated in part to the Black Dog Institute, with the balance being held by the Bingara Lions Club to enable further mental health and suicide awareness within the Gwydir Shire.
