Minor League players enthusiastic despite low numbers

Under 8s
The Advocate/Meat on Maitland 8’s had a smashing game on the weekend against Inverell West.  The team played well and with only 6 players it was always going to be a struggle.

Brooke McKinnon was in fine form and not afraid to take the ball up, managing to break through the defence and score a try out wide.  Thomas Young scoring three tries this week, showed great skill zipping through the opposition and leaving them in his wake.

There was fantastic defence from Toby White and Steven Todd again this week who seem to show no fear in tackling even the biggest of boys, Toby even managing to score a try in between all the great defence work Isaak Johnson had a fantastic game again this week and ran the ball up well scoring a well deserved try through the middle.

Holly Mepham, who has only been with the team for two weeks, ran the ball well and is a great asset to the team. Final score Inverell 54 Bingara 24.

Under 10s
The RSL 10’s travelled to Inverell on Saturday to take on Inverell West. Tries to Jake White, Joseph Smyth and Dylan McKinnon and conversions by Jake White, Tyler Greacen and Campbell Bond kept Bingara in the game and the score was 28-18 to Wests at half time.

In the second half, with tries to Jack Todd and Dylan McKinnon, Bingara were in the lead 24-22.

Unfortunately, a couple of tough referee calls saw Inverell score three quick tries and Bingara went down 46-24.

It was a great game to watch and Coach Rodney McKinnon was very proud of the team and feels a win for the boys is not too far away. Keep up the great work.

Bingara Minor League Under 12’s

The under 12’s minor league team travelled to Inverell on Saturday.  Sam Briody, Tam Lagaluga, Ben Johns-Bunyan, Tim Johns-Bunyan, Joseph Smythe, Dylan Butler and Chloe Butler all had a great game. Unfortunately there were no tries for the Bingara team.

A big thanks to the children and parents for travelling to the game. The Bingara under 12’s team members who did travel to Inverell wish to thank the Inverell boys for helping to make up the numbers for the Bingara team.

A great day was had by all.

Under 16s
The 16’s had a torrid time on the weekend, so short of numbers, but they tried their best. Matt O’Connor went very well again this week and is showing he is a very skillful player. Andrew Webber’s defence was tireless as usual and playing Hooker, Daniel Price defended well and had some sharp runs from Dummy Half.

The rest of the boys played well considering they were terribly outnumbered again and the game was called off with 10 minutes to go due to a few injuries.

The boys are hopeful of great things when they meet Warialda this weekend.
