I joined Bingara Pony Club when I moved to Bingara in 1994 and am now an Associate mmber of the Club. Recently I was awarded the NSW Keith Lowe Award. I am a member of the Bingara Show Society and have assisted in the co-ordination of the Dressage competition at the annual show.

I enjoy sports, music and studying.

Contestant 5 – Amy Young

My name is Amy Young and I am the daughter of David and Frances Young of "Orban", Bingara. I’ve recently turned 19 and have grown up on our family property, here in Bingara.

Last year I completed my HSC at Calrossy Anglican School in Tamworth and while there was involved in many aspects of the school and community. The most memorable and rewarding was in my final year when I was elected chairperson of our year 12 fundraising committee and with the help of my peers and school we raised in excess of $18,000 for various charities in the Tamworth district.

During my year off from education, I have been employed by the Imperial Hotel and from this have gained in self-confidence and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the community, being involved with local sporting activities and gaining skills through the Adult Learning entre. Throughout the year, I have also been a helping hand on the family property and have always had a respect and love for the land. Recently I returned from a two month tour around the UK which I thoroughly enjoyed and hope to do again in the future.

In the new year I intend to further my education and have been accepted to Newcastle University and am looking forward to this opportunity to extend myself and further my abilities, with the hope to bring those skills, one day, back to a rural community.

I am looking forward to the experience of the Bingara Showgirl competition and am sure that it will be a great benefit to me.
