Multi record sale for Booroomooka Angus

Records crashed in several directions at the Booroomooka Angus bull sale on Friday, August 13.  All 187 bulls offered for sale were sold, for an average price of $6524. 

The top Price of $30,000 was for Lot 10, Booroomooka Dulcify D98, a son of Booroomooka Design Y120.

He was bought by leading Angus Stud, Karoo Angus Stud, Bathurst. The under bidder was a stud in New Zealand.  The bull, a heifer’s first calf,  had a very pleasing balance, moderate birth weight, high growth, is very quiet, and all round very sound figures.

“We are very proud of the bulls,” a delighted Sinclair Munro, Co Principal of Booroomooka, said.

“We saw many repeat buyers, some clients have been coming for 17 years.”
Fifteen of the bulls sold for $10,000 or more, with bulls going as far afield as Caremont in Queensland, Narracorte, SA, Benalla, Victorial and to King Island.

Volume buyers included Clyde Agriculture, Oxley Station Warren who bought 22 bulls, and regular purchasers, Doug and Wendy Collins from King Island, who bought 12 bulls, and the McWhirter family who bought eight bulls. Mr. and Mrs. Collins have been regular quantity purchasers at  Booroomooka bull sales for the past 13 years.

Locals who bought at Booroomooka included George Boland who bought five bulls, SJP Pty Ltd, with four bulls, Castletop Pastoral Co. and McDouall and Co who each bought two bulls, and Mac and Flora Lee Warner, Paul and Laura Cush, John Rogers, David and Anne Smith and Wooroonga Past Co, who each bought one bull.

Second top price was lot 35, sold for 17,000 to a syndicate including Ellingson Angus, USA, and Wyall Artificial Breeders.

There were152 registered buyers at the sale.

Westpac helicopter catered serving barbecued Angus meat provided by the Munro family.  Some present commented that it was one of the best steaks they had ever eaten.
