Nashos’ 19th annual reunion approaching

February 28, 2014

Stories of the ‘old days’ will be shared and friends will come together for the 2014 Nashos and Ex- Services reunion.

This is the 19th year the event has been held. It is considered a special event on the National Servicemen’s Association calendar, as evidenced in the attendance of President, Ron Brown and his wife, who will be making the trip this year.

The get-together will begin on Friday, March 7 with a welcome night at the Bingara Returned Services Club. Some members take the opportunity to play darts in the regular Friday night competition.

A street parade will take place on Saturday, March 8 at 11am. People taking part are asked to assemble at the Corner of Finch and Maitland Streets. Vintage cars will transport those who are unable to walk and The Inverell Pipe band has been invited to lead the parade.

There will also be a brief memorial service at Memorial Park. A smorgasbord lunch at the RSL will follow at 12 noon. This will be at a cost of $25.00 per head.

The reunion will continue with an Anglican Church service on Sunday, March 9 at 9.00am. Organiser Lucy Bilsborough is asking for final numbers for catering purposes by February 28. She can be contacted on 67241223.

Mrs Bilsborough said extra sites would be made available for caravans at the Bingara Showground only when all sites were taken at the Bingara Caravan Park. Arrangements for any tributes to be laid at the memorial service on Saturday can be made at the “meet and greet” at the RSL on Friday evening.
