Bingara’s golf course is looking better than ever, with a brand new specialist greens mower making life easier for volunteers and ensuring more putts find their mark. The mower arrived just over a fortnight ago, replacing an ageing model that was partly held together by duct tape.
The Greensmaster 3150 has the latest in driving assistance and hydraulic cutting blades, allowing far greater precision when working on the greens. Bingara Sporting Club secured a $26,000 NSW Government grant late last year to supplement around $12,000 the club had raised for capital replacement over a number of years.

Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall was on the course last week to personally inspect the new mower and take it for a test drive. “As a volunteer-led organisation with about 500 members, the Bingara Sporting Club had been working like a well-oiled machine to keep the nine-hole course in perfect condition,” Mr Marshall said. “Unfortunately, their mower simply wasn’t up to the task, requiring extensive maintenance and continual repairs. This will take the load off volunteers and reduce costs for the club. Easier work will hopefully help attract more volunteers, which are essential to run this great sporting facility.”
Bingara Sporting Club President Tim Cox said the entire course is looking stellar. “They’re the highest quality you could get in the region. They won’t be any better than what they are at the moment,” Mr Cox said. “The old mower was costing money and hours and hours of man-time to keep it operating, the benefits are it does a much higher quality job and it self maintains. It only takes five minutes, whereas it used to be a three or four hour job and you had to take the entire machine apart. “It’s made our volunteers lives so much easier – and that’s key to our success.”
