Nominations open for Citizenship awards

December 16, 2012

Planning is underway for the 2013 Australia Day Celebrations in Bingara and it is time to consider nominating a special person or memorable event.

Awards categories are; Citizen of the Year, Youth Citizen of the Year and Event of the Year. Australia Day is a great opportunity to recognise people in our community and ensures that they receive the recognition that they deserve for their hard work and dedication.

This year has been a year of major events in Bingara. If there is one that stands out to you make sure you nominate it for Event of the Year.

Nomination forms can be collected from and returned to Gwydir Shire Council office, or downloaded from Council’s website www.gwydirshire.com. All nominations must be submitted by 5:00pm, Friday 11th January.

Australia Day Celebrations will commence at 8am and will follow a similar format to previous years with a hearty breakfast prepared by the Bingara Lions Club.

There will also be local entertainment prior to the ceremony which will take place at the Bingara Museum where the Bingara and District Historical Society will be selling tea, coffee and cold drinks.

For more information on Citizen of the Year, Youth of the Year, or Event of the Year nominations please contact Gwydir Shire Council on 02 67242000 or mail@gwydir.nsw.gov.au.
