On Course with Bingara Community College

September 25, 2008

Adult Learners Week was celebrated recently. It is an international celebration of Life Long Learning. Bingara Community College was very pleased to acknowledge outstanding dedication and performance from our students and tutors.

The Adult Learner of the Year for 2008 is Jo Waters. Jo is an enthusiastic member of the Bingara Community College Needlecraft Group. She was chosen for the award, not only for the quality of her work, but also for the support and encouragement she shows the other Group members. The Award was presented to Jo by Community College President, Toni Moodie at a morning tea on Wednesday. Coordinator, Marlene Brown and Community College patron, Madge Coulton were also thanked for their ongoing contribution to Adult Education and presented with Certificates of Appreciation.

Tutor of the Year was awarded to Lisa Moore. Lisa provides us with two excellent aerobic classes each week. She is completing her Certificate III in Fitness and is a great role model to us all. President, Toni Moodie and Councillor Catherine Egan presented Lisa with her award on Thursday evening following her class.

As part of Adult Learners Week, Rose Anderson demonstrated how to make rag rugs at the weekly Needlecraft Group meeting. Rose brought some examples of her work and some samples for us all to try. We hope to offer Rag Rug Making as a course soon.
