Orange Festival draws biggest crowd yet

July 6, 2016

Bingara’s annual Orange Festival went Greek last weekend and people had travelled from as far as Nowra on the South Coast up to Brisbane.

This year was the largest crowd on record and there were plenty of smiles about, with everyone who partook in the activities and festivities thoroughly enjoying themselves.

To open the weekend’s festivities was the annual Orange picking ceremony on the Friday followed by a fun run on Saturday morning, the Greek Long Lunch which was hosted by the CWA and sourced ingredients located within 100 miles, a street parade as well as various stalls over the weekend.

Costa, Australia’s favourite Greek, was also back to attend the festival, posting live updates on Facebook from the weekend. This includes the Orange Festival Picking Ceremony.  [View Video]

The Bingara Special Events Committee would like to thank each and every person that helped make this year’s Orange Festival a huge success.

A very special thanks to our volunteers and staff, the Fitness Centre Committee for their great job coordinating the fun run, The Bingara Lions Club and Touriandi for running the cafe on the Sunday, the CWA for the magnificent efforts running the long lunch, all the community groups who entered the parade and ran stalls on the day.

A special big thank you as well to everyone who came and supported the event, making it bigger and better than ever before.

We look forward seeing you next year for the Orange Picking on Friday the 30th June 2017 and for the festival on the Saturday 1st July 2017.
