Packed house for school presentations

December 22, 2008

The Roxy Theatre was packed last Monday night for the Bingara Central School annual presentation night.

Guest speaker was former Central School student, Fiona Ozols, who spoke candidly about the way Bingara Central had shaped her life.

Fiona said Bingara Central School had introduced her to music, provided a range of sport, and academic grounding.

She described how she was able to expand on what she had learned at Bingara.

Fiona attended Bingara Central school from Year 1 to Year 8. She then attended Glennie School at Toowoomba as a border.  Fiona admitted that during her days at Bingara, and also at Glennie, she caused her teachers some grief.

However, with the benefit of hindsight, she was able to advise the students that teachers don’t "suck", indeed, it is a good idea to listen to them.

In his address, Relieving Principal, Bob Johnston, said the school is full of achievements of students from Kindergarten to Year 11.  "Bingara Central School has progressed in a positive fashion throughout the year," Mr. Johnston said.

Students had excelled in a variety of areas, including music, sport, as well as pleasing progress academically and were presented with prizes for their achievements in these areas.

Jade Dixon and William Johnstone were recipients of the RSL Scholarships.
Jade and William received their certificates and a cheque each from
RSL Sub Branch President, David Young.

At the conclusion of the evening, members of the Students Representative Council for 2009 were announced.

The Primary SRC members are: Edward Abra, Rebekah Cox-McGowan, Lucy Withers, Tori Allen (Vice Captain), and Charlie McGowan (Primary Captain).

The SRC members from Secondary are drawn from Years 11 and 12.
