Paintings from everywhere arriving for Gwydir Art Show

October 11, 2013

A large number of paintings have already arrived in Bingara awaiting the opening of the Gwydir Art Show.

The 16th annual exhibition opens on Thursday, October 17 at 6.30 p.m. in the Bingara Civic Centre.  The Official Opening and announcement of prize winners will be followed by a Preview Dinner.

Gwydir Art Show

The Gwydir Art Prize winner from 2012, David Lake from Newbridge will be one of the two feature artists at this exhibition. David’s work is unique and has received many art awards in Sydney and across the state.

Rhonda March from Glen Innes is the second feature artist this year. Rhonda has won many prizes in the New England and North West regions.

For the first time the Gwydir Art Show will be open for an extended season, concluding on Saturday, October 26. The Art Show will open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day except Sunday.

During the second week several artists will be present to demonstrate their style of art and will be happy to share their knowledge.

A parade of apparel from Vintage Rose will take place on Thursday, October 24. This event will commence with a guided tour of the art works and afternoon tea. The Parade from Vintage Rose will conclude the afternoon program.

By popular demand Lisa Crispin from Grafton will return with her display of unique jewellery. Lisa loves to refurbish, rebirth and repair old, vintage and broken jewellery.

If you have something that belonged to Grandma which isn’t of any use in it’s current state, perhaps Lisa can fix it. Alternatively, she may be able to turn it into something altogether different, but functional.

Lisa even carries a large range of stones to replace those which are missing from your jewellery. Lisa invites people to introduce themselves to her, and assures patrons that she is happy to answer any questions about her work.

Proceeds from this year’s Gwydir Art Show will support Christian Education at the Bingara Central School.

Bookings for the Preview Dinner can be made by telephone at 02 6724 0057 or 0427 241 668.
