Remembrance Day 2010 in Bingara

November 20, 2010

Rememberance Day was observed in Bingara last Thursday week, at a ceremony which concluded with two minutes silence.

All over Australia, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is recognised as the end of what was talked of at the time “The War to End all Wars”.

Sadly, history has proved this not to be the case, and men and women who served in other wars which have involved Australian troops, gathered with community members to remember their sacrifice.

“In the 92 years since that first armistice, and 65 years since the ending of the second world war, Australian forces have been involved in conflicts and wars from Korea, Vietnam and other actions including Iraq and Afghanistan and we still see you young men and women die and maimed in the cause of our freedom,” RSL Sub Branch President, told the gathering.

Bingara Central School was represented by Principal, Mark Vale and RSC representatives.
