What a Start: Our school year has started off in a very positive way for students, staff and parents of Bingara Central School.
On Tuesday of this week ALL our staff participated in a staff development day that involved a presentation of the school priorities for the year.
The staff also participated in some mandatory training and attended faculty meetings. This format ensured that the staff were prepared when the students returned the following day.
On Wednesday of this week all our students from Years 1 – 11 commenced. Wednesday was a truly historic day when for the first time in the history of our school students started their Higher School Certificate studies. On Wednesday we had 14 students enrol and by the end of the week that number had increased to 15. This is an amazingly exciting new chapter in the history of our school. What it does mean is that a student can start at Bingara Central School and in 13 years can complete all their compulsory schooling in the one safe, happy and caring environment.
On Thursday of this week we had 24 new kindergarten students start their school careers. Most of our students were very excited to be here with only a couple of students a little upset. After only 10 minutes of the day all students were into singing songs and learning about their classmates, their teacher and all the exciting things that they will be doing at school this year and for many years to come.
I also want to acknowledge and once again reiterate a very warm welcome to all our new students and their families to our school community. I know that everyone will make our new faces feel very welcome and show them what a great school we have in Bingara.Six new staff members also starting the next chapter of their careers at Bingara Central School. They have all been welcomed with open arms to our school and I know that they will make a real difference to our students.
The theme of our staff development day was ‘Making a Difference.’ I know that our school, more so than ever, with so many exciting things planned for the year will make a difference to the lives of all our students.
