School News, November 6, 2008 (Week 4, Term 4)

November 18, 2008

The next two weeks are very important for Secondary students. Next week the School Certificate takes place with exams in English, Science, Maths, History, Geography and Computer. Hopefully, students are revising and studying to attain the best possible results in their exams.

Just so the Junior School, Years 7 – 9 don’t feel left out, yearly examinations are scheduled in Week 6 beginning on the 17th November. Again, students should be striving for the best possible. Results and only way to do that is to work. Calvin Coolidge said best: "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence". So keep trying

Recently I spoke to the Secondary Assembly about the importance of doing your best, whatever that best may be. Basically, I told the students that you should do the very best that you can, that at the end of the day you can say to your parents/ carers I tried as hard as I could.

If you can say that honestly, and try as hard as you can, then regardless of your results you are a winner, because you’ve given your best. Remember the School motto "Strive to Succeed".

That’s all you need to do – strive. Not all of us can be the dux, but we can all try as hard as we can. This not only applies to academic results, but to all things eg. sport, the career you end up doing…..
