Some of Australia’s top dogs on show at Upper Horton

May 31, 2013

Upper Horton Sports Club will be conducting their annual Dog Trials from June 7 to 10. This trial is growing in popularity each year, beginning 27 years ago as a one-day event to its present four days.

Early entries are strong, with several new competitors coming as well as our regular trailers. Entries come from most parts of NSW and also southern Queensland. The Feature event is the NSW Regional Championship Yard Dog Trial, with the winner eligible to compete in the NSW Yard Dog Championship.

They also win the memorial Paul Hodges Trophy. There are also Maiden, Novice and Encourage events. The Arena (three sheep) trial is getting bigger each year and we have had to start on Friday, June 7 to give them all a run.

There are open, novice and Encourage events. The dog high jump will again be held on Sunday June 9 at lunchtime. This is a very popular event that is enjoyed by all.

There will also be a working dog auction on June 9. Anyone who has a dog for sale or wishes to buy one please contact Barry Madden. Sale dogs have to be working and under control.

The sports ground is looking great after the recent rain and with some of Australia’s top dogs and handlers competing, it should be a great weekend.

There will be meals and refreshment available during the day, and meals at the Sports Club at night, and plenty of firewood for the campfires.

Thank you to our sponsors, as without their support the event could not be held. It is really appreciated.
