Something for everyone de-stress and enjoy

September 4, 2014

Do you fancy a slice of the lightest, most delicious, mouth-watering sponge cake (cream, jam and all) or maybe a decadent double chocolate slice? Have you yearned for a tempting caramel or marshmallow home-made sweet? Yearn no more!  Come to Touriandi Lodge on September 13 and look over the cakes and sweets stall.

Are you thinking about spring planting? Need some vegetable and herb seedlings, or perennials and shrubs to fill those gaps in your winter garden? Do you dream of the crumbliest, finest cow manure (matured over years in cattle camps in the mountains) to jump-start your plantings?  Dream no more. Come to Touriandi grounds where you will find a plant stall to supply your needs.

An Auction will be conducted by H.Roy Miller at 10.30am. Then you can enjoy a Devonshire morning tea. The bric-a-brac stall will have loved, pre-loved and interesting items to tempt you. As well, a residents’ stall will display results of residents’ craft efforts over past months.

Children will be well-catered for with the opportunity to decorate their own cupcake or enjoy an icecream. After a delicious barbecue lunch they will be able to participate in games of yesteryear ‘the olden days’ which have returned to popularity.

There will be egg and spoon, three-legged, skipping, wheelbarrow and other novelty races, with great prizes to be won. Jamie and Joe Lanagan will provide relaxing entertainment during the day.

The raffle will be drawn on the day. First prize is a TV set, second prize an outdoor recliner chair, third prize a quilt and fourth prize an omelette maker.

Touriandi Lodge, now 21 years old, is an excellent facility and a wonderful asset to our town and community. There would be scarcely a family in the area which has not had some contact with the caring staff there over the years.

You, the generous community of our district, are invited to join the residents, their families, staff, board and support group, Friends of Touriandi, on Saturday, September 13, as together we make a huge effort to raise money towards the purchase of a wheelchair-friendly bus which will enhance the residents’ quality of life even more by transporting them out and about within the community and district.
