Bingara and District VISION 20/20 is delighted to advise that a special guest presenter at “When the Moon got trod on!”, our celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first moon walk, will be Ms Donna Burton from the Siding Springs Observatory, Coonabarrabran.

Ms Burton, who lives in Coonabarabran, is a postgraduate student of astronomy at the University of Southern Queensland, conducting research that involves photometry and spectroscopy on active young stars.

Her project at present is doing photometry and spectroscopy that can help us understand the activity, dynamos and evolution of low-mass stars including our Sun.

She is vitally involved in astronomy education and outreach in the community and, is a committee member of the Astronomical Society of Coonabarabran (ASC).

Donna is particularly interested in collaboration in events to mark the International Year of Astronomy in 2009 and will be our welcome guest at “When the Moon got trod on!”
