Sporting Awards return to Bingara

After an absence of almost 20 years, Bingara will again have the opportunity to honour local residents’ sporting achievements.

The Bingara Sporting Club has taken the initiative to revive the Bingara Sporting Awards.

The Club is hosting the awards at a Presentation Dinner and Awards night to be held on December 10.  BOOK ONLINE NOW!

When the awards were held prior to 1997, they were run by a committee under the former Bingara Shire Council. Gwydir Shire Council will be the major Sponsor of the revived awards. The original trophies have been relocated and will be presented to the winners of this years awards.

There are sections for :

  • Sub – Junior Boy & Girls (Primary School)
  • Junior Boy and Girl (High school to 18 years and under)
  • Senior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Services to Sport
  • The Bingara Sportsperson of the Year.

The 2016 Bingara Sportsperson of the Year will be judged from the winners of the individual sections. Nominations are encouraged by community groups or individuals.

Nomination Forms are available at the Shire Offices, Sporting Club or the Bingara Newsagency. A nomination form is also on Page 5 of this week’s Advocate.

Sporting Club President, Tim Cox, said “It is a great opportunity to recognise the achievements and hard work of our local sportsmen and women and the support they receive from volunteers and committees in multitudes of sports contested in the last twelve months”.

Nominations for the Sports Awards close on Wednesday November 30 at 5pm.  Completed forms should be returned to the Sporting Club or the Council office.
