Katie Cannington was named as the Dux of Primary at the Bingara Central School Presentations held recently.
After the presentation of awards, the SRC members for next year were announced. From these students, the leadership team of School Captain, Kristen Heal and School Vice Captain, Gabbie Brennan, Primary Captain, Madeline Coombes and Primary Vice Captain, Charlotte Odell were announced.
In his address, Principal, Mark Vale said Bingara Central School had been successful in taking the step to include Years 11 and 12, and the school has consolidated to provide a sound learning environment.
He noted the success of Year 10 students who had earned good marks in the School Certificate, with some marks within the top 25% of the state.
Congratulations to all the class award and certificate recipients at the Infants Presentation afternoon. Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 have all worked very hard this year to make excellent progress. Their teachers, Mr. Fuller (Kindergarten), Mrs. Cox-McGowan and Mrs. Mill (Year 1) and Mr. Alliston (Year 2) are very pleased with the progress the students have made. The students have improved in their academic, social and sporting skills and these were all recognised at Presentation afternoon.
The afternoon concluded with the student performance of a Christmas pageant especially written by Mrs. Mill.
The children sang, danced and acted to the total enjoyment of the audience, which consisted of the Mayor of Gwydir Shire Council, patrons and many proud parents, carers and other family members.
The Presentation was a fitting conclusion to a successful year and I would like to thank the teachers, students and their families for their commitment and support throughout the year.
RSL Sub Branch Awards
Each year the Bingara RSL sub branch provides two scholarships to a boy and a girl who are continuing their studies in Year 11 and 12.
This year the scholarships were presented to Meg Rampling and Mitchell Anderson by President David Young at the monthly meeting of the Bingara sub branch last week. Thank you to the Bingara sub branch for their support of two hard working senior students for 2010.
