Come along and take a walk down memory lane at the Roxy Theatre on Tuesday March 8.
Women of the Gwydir Shire and visitors are encouraged to come and celebrate 100 years of International Womens Day, by participating in a special luncheon from 11am to 2pm.
International Womens Day is celebrated globally each year on March 8, to bring women together to remind us of the great achievements made by women.
The year 2011 marks the 100 year anniversary, and what better place to celebrate the achievements of women than at the Roxy Theatre with a group of your lady friends bringing back memories.
The celebrations for International Womens Day will showcase a variety of items from days gone by including cookware, fashion and household items. There will also be various speakers, as well as a light luncheon.
An exciting feature will be the launch of the exhibition display, “One Hundred Years”, which has been developed by the exhibitions team from the State Library of New South Wales, and is based on the recent Mitchell Library Centenary exhibition, celebrating 100 years of the Mitchell Library in NSW.
The display will be at the Warialda Library from the 21st of February until the 7th of March and it will then be transported to Bingara for the celebration and launch at the International Womens Day luncheon on Tuesday March8. The display will then be open for public view at the Bingara Library from March 9 to 28.
A free bus will be leaving Warialda Council Chambers at 10:15am and returning at 2:45pm.Bookings are essential, so please phone Kimberly Apthorpe on 0408454813 before the March 4 for catering purposes.
