Talking Turkey . . . .

February 8, 2013

The Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Manegement Authority is on the hunt for the Australian Brush Turkey between Warialda and Bingara, and west to Narrabri on the north-west slopes and plains.

The CMA and the Upper Gwydir Landcare Association (UGLA) are working together to find out more about this isolated population, which is under pressure from pigs, foxes and cats, as well as loss of habitat from clearing and over grazing.

We’d greatly appreciate any information landholders can pass on if they’ve seen these birds or their mounds on their properties.
