“The River House” to open by Christmas!

October 31, 2011

The River House at 6 Keera Street  is opening soon. It overlooks Bingara’s newest park, “The Junction” and the magnificent Gwydir River, and is within easy walking distance of all the town’s facilities.

The property offers first class accommodation – three fully self contained one bedroom units with wonderfully spacious living & dining areas, and a fourth bedroom with en-suite. It is available for rental for any period, and in any combination of the four lettable areas. Design and finish is of the highest quality.

The River House is being built by Garry & Linda McDouall as their retirement home – “one day!” In the meantime they wish to offer the living experience to visitors to Bingara.

The garden is designed as a “food forest”, with every plant being edible. The garden surrounds a beautiful pergola and pond, with the sounds of running water- a great place to dine outdoors.

Garry & Linda have commented, “This property represents our commitment to the future of Bingara. It helps to address the shortage of accommodation, and we envisage actively promoting it as a package with the many attractions of Bingara –  the Roxy & its entertainment and conferencing facilities, the great sporting facilities, the “old style” main street (in stark contrast to our surrounding larger  towns), the river, horse riding etc.

“The property is ideal for romantic holidays, for gatherings of family and friends, for weddings and other occasions, and for smaller regional conferences.

The “food forest” will do on a domestic scale what “The Living Classroom” will do on a community scale – enabling us to feed ourselves and our region with fresh food, grown locally, with benefits to our health and well-being. It demonstrates just what can be done.”
