Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards invite

September 25, 2009

The Tidy Towns Awards will be held in Tamworth on October 30/31. Bingara has enetered into the Overall Catagory Towns 1200-4000 population and in the Heritage Section. If you would like to go and are interested in the Awards Dinner on the Saturday Night, please let Rick Hutton know as Bingara might consider a bus.

Below is a letter from Phil Kelly, Tidy Towns Program Manager extending an invitation to the weekend events.

On behalf of Dawn Fardell MP, Chair of Keep Australia Beautiful NSW, I would like to thank you for your involvement in the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards Program and invite you and your town representatives to attend the 2009 Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards Weekend in Tamworth.

The Minister for Volunteering, The Hon. Graham West will be in attendance along with other dignitaries. Associate Professor Melanie Oppenheimer, Author of “Volunteering: Why we can’t survive without it” will give a presentation prior to the Saturday afternoon awards and Grant Goldman breakfast announcer with radio 2SM will MC the Saturday evening Awards Dinner.

The weekend offers you the opportunity to interact with and learn from new and old Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities participants as well as discover what made Tamworth the 2009 State and Australian Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Winner.  There are also three excellent Tamworth Town Bus Tours to choose from. Please refer to the back of the registration form for more details.

Last year we had 350 people attend the awards weekend in Dorrigo. We hope to expand on this for the Tamworth Tidy Towns weekend 2009. All are welcome including friends or people you may know in neighbouring towns.

Can you help us turn this into a great event by getting on the bush telegraph and encouraging others to attend?

If you are unable to attend the weekend, then we wish you all the best for the remainder of 2009 and hope that you might be able to participate in Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities in 2010.
