On the evening of Tuesday October 23, the North West Theatre Company, and The Roxy, will be delighted to host OzOpera at A Night at the Opera – featuring, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s classic “The Magic Flute”.
OzOpera is the touring arm of Opera Australia, and the troupe have been “on the road” since March presenting “The Magic Flute” as an abridged production, in English, to schools across NSW.
On Wednesday October 24, they will delight 350 littlies from across the NW region with their performance at the Roxy, but on the Tuesday night, as a special offer to the Bingara community, it will be “..a Night at the Opera”, with members of the cast presenting some of their favourite “party pieces” in the first half of the program.
Bingara lass Lexi Hutton, is a member of the troupe. Lexi attended Bingara Central School from kindergarten to year 6. She, and twin brother Nick, were both members of the Bingara Central School Band and toured with the North West Central Schools’ Band. She then attended PLC in Armidale where the strong music curriculum fostered and enhanced her love of music.
Lexi toured Europe with the Gondwana Voices Youth Choir, when in Year 11, and after completing the HSC she attended UNSW for one year before transferring to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Lexi is an accomplished pianist and flautist, but it is voice, particularly classical song, that is her greatest love.
Straight from the Con, Lexi auditioned for and was successful in gaining a contract with OzOpera. She continues to compete in eistedfodd’s recently being runner up in the Melbourne Singer of the Year Competition.
Lexi also performs in musical theatre and is currently completing a season of the modern musical, “The Last Five Years” for the Sydney University Drama Society.
Lexi always loves to come home to Bingara, and she is very excited about bringing her fellow performers from OzOpera to sing at The Roxy.
Tickets for A Night at the Opera are available through Fays of Bingara, Ph:6724 1303.
